Prairie Spirit Rail Trail

The Trail was constructed as one of the first north-south rail lines in Kansas in the early 1860's. The line ran from Leavenworth, Kansas to Galveston, Texas.The Prairie Spirit Rail Trail is one of three major railbanked corridors in Kansas and the only corridor managed by the State of Kansas. The trail travels from Ottawa to Iola and is 50 miles in length.

Walking Tour

This tour includes wooden sculptures by Gino Salerno, Lady Justice, high above the Anderson County Courthouse, the gardens of the Donna Harris Memorial Park, murals on various buildings, plus much, much more. Tour maps are available at the Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce, City Hall and the Garnett Public Library.

Garnett Country Club and Golf Course

In the North Lake area, offers a truly lovely course where green fees are low and tee-time is anytime. Relax and enjoy the rolling, sun-drenched course at your convenience.

Lake Garnett

Constructed by Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, Lake Garnett has a surface area of over 55 acres. The lake provides camping facilities, electric and water hookups, and a sanitary dump station. Camping, permits are required and game fish are stocked in Garnett's fishing areas.

Garnett's North Lake Park

A unique recreation area unrivaled by other towns at comparable size. The area holds four softball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, a swimming pool, tot lot playground, and a camping area. It is also home to a riding arena, fairgrounds, football field, go-kart, and rifle/archery range. For several years now for an athletic triathlon, an event that is well attended by athletes from all over the state.

Cedar Valley Reservoir

3.5 miles west of Garnett, offers a recreational experience of rugged beauty. This new reservoir is a skiing, fishing, and camping area of exceptional appeal that also ensures the future of the city's water supply.

Crystal Lake

Just south of Garnett, offers a quiet, shady park, complete with ducks and geese for feeding. It is excellent for fishing in all seasons, and for picnics, bird watching, stargazing and daydreaming.
