Lakefest 2000

Outdoor concert featuring country performers Danni Leigh and Mark Chesnutt. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the gate, children 10 and under are free. Food vendors and concessions on the grounds. Amelia Earhart Symposium
Presentations by five women role models and Kansas natives, Theatre Atchison, 401 Santa Fe,

*Former U.S. Senator Nancy Kassebaum Baker

*Dr. Donna Sweet, a leading medical researcher on the AIDS epidemic

*Brigadier General Elizabeth Hoisington, a highly-decorated officer who helped lead a new era for American women in the military.

*Rev. Flora Nunley, an active community volunteer in Kansas City, Mo., and a proponent of voter registration by naturalized citizens.

*Kay Schallenkamp, Ph.D, the first female president at Emporia State University

Festivities on the Missouri River
It's fun for the entire family in the historic blocks near the "Mighty Mo'" with food vendors, aerobatic performances by pilot Ken Stout and music by the TurpinTyme Ragsters. 2nd & Commercial streets, food booths open at 6:00 p.m.

"Concert in the Sky" Fireworks
On the banks of the Missouri River, enjoy one of the Midwest's most dazzling fireworks shows orchestrated to music by Wichita's Paul Austin Pyrotechnics, Atchison's riverfront park, pre-show begins at 9:00 p.m.
