Barton County Historical Museum & Village
The Barton County Historical Society Museum & Village lets you take a fascinating walk into the past. The Village is located on a five-acre tract of land that is south of Great Bend on U.S. Highway 281. Nine buildings are part of the Village including: an 1871 Pioneer Rock Home, an 1898 Church, a 1910 Depot, a 1915 School House, a small Post Office, two Museum Buildings and an Agriculture Building. The Village has a Wood-vane Windmill which pumps fresh water.
Barton County Historical Society Museum and Village are open to the public from mid-April to mid-November daily except Monday. Hours are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Special tours can be arranged by phoning (316) 793-5125 during the Museum's open hours. The Museum and Village are located on U.S. Highway 281 south of the Arkansas River Bridge. Admission: Donations.
