Highland, 1 mile north of US 36 Highway on K-120, is a beautiful town surrounded by some of the most productive farm land in the region. The design for both the town and the college was laid out in 1857 and Highland Community College (HCC) was founded in 1858 by the Rev. Samuel Irvin. Attractions include: the United Methodist Presbyterian church, beginning foundation for the City of Highland and the surrounding area; Irvin Hall, on the campus of HCC; the Native American Heritage Museum at Highland Mission Site; and Degginger Park.
