First Saturday - Ellis - Big Creek River Festival - Great food, beautiful crafts, and wild and wacky fun. Children's races, bath tub races, pasta-eating contests, and carnival rides are all included in the package. Firestation Park.

1 - Hays - Welcome to Hays! Travenol Employees Reunion

1 thru 4 - Hays - Wild West Festival

(usually held the 3rd week) - Ellis - Bukovina Fest - Each year people from several nations convene in Ellis for an international convention on Bukovina culture.

(last week) - Ellis - Ellis Jr. Fee Fair - Each night, Tuesday through Saturday, is devoted to competition and exhibits for all ages. You will find sand volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, baseball games, children's games, and a free barbecue. An event popular with the spectators is the Farm Olympics.

August

Held on the Saturday of the Free Fair - Ellis - Ellis-Union Pacific Railroad Days - Railroad Days gives an opportunity for the public to experience a taste of history.

September

Sept. 29 thru Oct. 7 - Hays - Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall Exhibit at the Americian Legion Veteran Mem.Park

29 - Hays - Oktoberfest (activities take place in Frontier Park - South Main)

30 - Hays - Fort Hays State University Homecoming (activities take place on the F.H.S.U.Campus)

October

(Saturday - late September or early October) - Ellis - Ellis Oktoberfest - From galouskies to bierocks, potatoes and dumplings to Kuchen (pastry), your mouth and your stomach will thank you for coming. Plan on spending the afternoon checking out the booths and listening to the musical entertainment.

27,28 - Hays - Kansas State 1A & 2A Girls Volleyball Championships at Gross Mem.Coliseum - F.H.S.U.
