Many of the community events center around the three city parks. The Swimming Pool Park is a great site for community picnics, with the pool and lighted tennis courts adding recreational facilities for all to use. Fairview Park is a recently completed children's playground, which has a gazebo for relaxing and playground equipment on a large lot. The oldest and most charming park is located in the heart of the city. This picturesque park is a hub of activity from sledding on the hills in the winter to playing basketball, volleyball and rollerblading during warmer weather.

Special events also utilize the City Park area. The opening of the Christmas season begins with the park lighting during an evening early in December. White lights ouline the large gazebo, swinging bridge, Santa's Workshop (shelter house), and many pine trees. Each year more lights are added to the decorations. It truly becomes a winter wonderland. Families gather for the festive evening of holiday music, refreshments, drawings and of course, a visit from Santa Claus.

The park is also the site of the Fourth of July "Sparkler Jamboree," Games, food booths, talent show and musical entertainment all add up to a fun-packed day. In the evening, the activities move to the Swimming Pool Park, and then on to the beautiful Ringneck Stadium for the fireworks display. July 4th is a truly secial day for Hill Citians and their guests.
