Nortonville

Located in the extreme northern part of the county, on the line of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, it is the youngest town in the county, established in May 1873. In early 1874 grasshoppers ruined the crops. The farmers decided to put up large quantities of wild grass and ship it out. This was done for three years with nearly three thousand tons of baled hay being sent out.
