Burnet, Texas

The seat of Burnet County, Burnet grew around the frontier Fort Croghan, established in 1849. The area is one of the most ancient geological areas of the world, featuring outcropps of granite and the famous Longhorn Cavern. Located nearby is White Bluff, characterized by beautiful formations created by running and dripping water.

Burnet is a year-round tourist destination, named Bluebonnet Capital of Texas by the 67th Texas Legislature as it is known for a beautiful display of wildflowers each spring. The annual Bluebonnet Festival is held the second weekend in April. Camping facilities and excellent fishing are available on the nearby Highland Lakes. Hunters take deer, wild turkey, and dove in season.

Delaware Springs Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal golf course on U.S. 281 south of town.
