Whitney Lake offers some of the best outdoor recreation in Texas with 23,500 surface acres of water at the conservation pool. Whether you are looking for a day of relaxation, a weekend getaway, or an "out of the mainstream" vacation spot, Whitney Lake is the place! There are 10 Corps of Engineers parks, one state park, and three additional parks managed by Hill County or private individuals. Equestrian riders have a great place to explore rolling hills and woods in the McCown Valley Equestrian Area. Hopewell Trail, an additional equestrian riding and multi-use trail opened in 2002.
