10 - 11 Annual Colonies of the Gulf Coast - Explore life on Isle Dauphine in the 1700-1800s. Visit with French, British, and Spanish soldiers. A part of Napoleon's Old Guard, that formed the colony in Demopolis, will be on hand to demonstrate soldier life, including drills and cannon firing. Also candlemaking,open-hearth cooking and blacksmith demonstrations.

17 Annual Colonial Isle Daphine - A living history weekend exploring life on the Gulf Coast before the Fort was built. Re-enactors in pre-1840 dress bring the Fort to life. Soldiers will be at hand to demonstrate soldier life of this time period. They will do drilling and fire the cannon. Visit with settlers and their families. Women are cooking over an open hearth, traders are sitting by their blankets.
Our resident Blacksmith will demonstrate his craft in the Fort's original Blacksmith Shop.

24 Mobile Bay Vintage Motorcycle Club's Annual Show - The Mobile Bay Vintage Motorcycle Club will hold its annual Spring Motorcycle Show on Dauphin Island, Alabama at the Dauphin Island School (one mile west of the water tower). All makes are welcome. Registration will be $8 per bike. Registration will open at 11:30. Judging will begin at 1:15pm and winners will be announced at 2:45pm. Trophies awarded for the first 3 places in each class plus a best-of-show trophy. Rain date: following Sunday. Admission to the show is free and food will be available on site. Proceeds go to support the Dauphin Island School PTO. Virtually any motorcycle will fit in one of these classes so your bike should be there! 13 - 14 Annual Dauphin Island Art Festival - Artists are coming from the Carolinas down to Florida, and west to Louisiana. The juried event will be held beneath the shade of the majestic oaks at historic Cadillac Square Park on Dauphin Island. "Around 60,000 square feet of the park has been set aside for the 50 or more artists scheduled to show," Joyce Champion, co-coordinator said. "This is a high-end art festival with works in oil and watercolor, charcoal, woodwork and pottery, metalwork and fine jewelry, and sculptured art." Local Dauphin Island artist and festival co-coordinator, Dena McKee agrees that the quality of art to be displayed is extraordinary for the event.

Throughout the days there will be a food court of local restaurants such as the Lighthouse Bakery and Island BBQ to feed the body, as the light sound music feeds the soul. The family-friendly festival will also offer activities for children such as face painting. The Dauphin Island Art Festival is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cadillac Square Park. There will be free parking on-site and along the roadside during the event.

28 - 30 Annual Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo - The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo is the oldest and largest fishing tournament in the country. The first tournament was held in 1928. The event has had more than 3,200 participants over the past several years and is an official Southern Kingfish event. The event is a project of the Mobile Jaycees of which all the members are volunteers and contribute their time and efforts to put on the tournament. There are 30 categories in the event containing both inshore and offshore species of fish. The awards package is valued at more than $400,000.00 and includes three boat, motor and trailer packages. The major sponsors of the event include Coca Cola, Contender Boats, Yamaha Motor Corp., Loadmaster Trailers, Polar Boats, Sailfish Boats, Furuno & C& H Lures, to name a few. It is one of the premiere saltwater fishing events in the country and everyone is invited to come and participate or just come and enjoy the festivities and see the fish as they are brought in to the weigh station.

10 - 13AL0105093e013 - Dauphin Island Gatalop at Fort Gaines - The Barony of the Osprey - " Society for Creative Anachronism presents Gatalop XXVII at historic Fort Gaines. The Civil War fort is thrown back 700-years and transformed into a medieval castle under siege with flying banners, clinking armor and ladies sewing beneath their festive pavilions. Battles, archery and other live weapon competitions, blacksmithing demonstrations and more will be held throughout the day in this historical portrayal of life in the middle ages. Activities begin at 9 a.m.

18 Trick or Treat Trail - The Dauphin Island United Methodist Church hosts the spooky Trick or Treat Trail on Halloween evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Taylor Harper Bike and Jogging Trail at the Water Tower provides the ghostly setting for this annual event. Kids are invited to wear costumes and explore the trail for sweet treats in a secure, controlled environment.

2 Holiday Art Fest in the Park - More than forty artists from across the upper Gulf Coast are scheduled to show at the juried art fest with $5,000 in awards to be presented. Local island artists Dena McKee and Lawrence Trotter will be among those to show their works along with others such as New Orleans artist Martin Welch and Joe Sheffield of Daphne.

Artwork categories include painting, pottery, jewelry, photography, sculpture, graphics and drawings.

Santa will also be viewing the art throughout the day, so bring the kids for a holiday meet and greet with the Jolly Old Elf himself.

Sponsored by the Dauphin Island Chamber of Commerce, the "Holiday Art Fest in the Park" will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at historic Cadillac Square Park.

23 Annual Christmas at the Fort - Experience the 1861 Christmas with the Confederate garrison. A living history weekend for the whole family. A letter home from James M. Williams with the 21st Alabama Infantry Volunteers stationed at Fort Gaines in 1861 provided the blueprint for this event. Come visit with "Papa Noel", watch cooking demonstrations, candle dipping, blacksmith demonstrations and much more. Children will have the chance to make seashell Christmas ornaments.
