10 Annual Black Heritage Festival - Celebrate Black History Month at the Museum with one of Alabama's best known and longest running Black History festivals. Dozens of young people from area schools, churches and civic groups will vie for cash awards in the oration competition. See a performance by CAST Kool Kids. Enjoy voices raised in song, including Jacksonville State University's a cappella choir under the direction of Dr. Patricia Corbin and the Anniston High School Choir. See and shop African inspired crafts, clothing, artwork and more in the Museum lobby where vendors will be available throughout the day. And grab a tasty lunch from on-site food vendor Courthouse Café & BBQ. 10am-5pm.

9 - 11 Annual Alabama Hiking Trail Society Conference - The Alabama Hiking Trail Society Annual Conference is the largest gathering of hikers, backpackers, and outdoor lovers in the state. The event, sponsored by the non-profit AHTS and Cheaha State Park, will be held in historic Bald Rock Lodge at the park. The weekend is highlighted with two tracks of presentations covering a wide variety of topics ranging from hiking and backpacking gear, tips, and destinations to Alabama history, to environmental issues. Throughout the weekend there will be entertainment, food, raffles, a silent auction, and of course - short hikes atop Cheaha Mountain. Everyone is invited to take part in the photo contest for prizes.

17 Woodland Calhoun Century Challenge Bike Ride - An annual bike ride offering 25, 50, and 100 mile options. Set in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, the ride offers a pleasurable trip through scenic and rural sections of northeast Alabama. Along the way, riders travel through the small towns of Jacksonville, Weaver, and Piedmont, along portions of the Chief Ladiga Trail, through the campus of Jacksonville State University, along a section of the Talladega National Forest and the Duggar Mountain Wilderness Area, and through sections of both Calhoun and Cleburne County. Staffed rest stops, a souvenir T-Shirt, a post ride meal, radio communications, excellent SAG support, along with the three route options, combine to make this a great ride for both the amateur and more competitive century rider.

2 Music at McClellan: Classics Under the Stars - Stretch out under a starry canopy and enjoy a lineup of celestial masterpieces including Borodin's Polovetsian Dances and Copland's Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo. Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture will provide an explosive finale to the evening concert! This final concert in the outdoor series featuring the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and a line a period cannons.
