4 Athens Relay for Life Bass Fishing Tournament - Annual City of Athens Relay for Life Bass Fishing Tournament from safelight to 2 p.m. at Ingalls Harbor. Those interested in supporting efforts to "fish for a cure" can find a registration form online at www.athensal.us. Registration prior to the event is $100 per team with an optional $10 for Big Fish. Registration will be available the day of the event starting at 4 a.m. Cost will be $110 cash with an optional $10 for Big Fish.

17 - 18 Annual Limestone County Sheriff's Rodeo - Sanctioned rodeo with bareback riding, steer wrestling, bull riding, calf roping and rodeo pageant. Festivities begin with a downtown parade the previous Saturday followed by a street dance on Tuesday before rodeo. This event is held at the Limestone Sheriff's Rodeo Arena located on Hwy 99.

3 Athens Red, White & Boom Firework Show - Bring the entire family for a spectacular fireworks display. This event will be held at the Athens Football Stadium located on Hwy 31 North beginning at dusk. No stadium seating. Viewable from adjacent properties including Central Church of Christ, Athens Shopping Center, Athens High School and Swan Creek Park. Please respect private property and traffic right of ways. Please remain in your vehicles and enjoy the firework show after dark (approximately 8:30PM) provided by Athens-Limestone County Tourism, Athens Gas Department - An 811, Call Before You Dig Partner and Limestone County Commission.

Tune into WSLV 96.5 or 105.1 for the simulcast music.

2 - 3 Piney Chapel American Farm Heritage Days - Piney Chapel American Farm Heritage Days at at the Show Grounds (TBA) with gates open at 7:00AM until ?. All makes, models and years of tractor and farm equipment will be on display and demonstrated. Friday features a tractor ride starting at 10:00AM with registration at 9:00AM-9:30AM. First Friday and Saturday of August.

Kids will enjoy activities including a Pedal Pull Competition. Get revved up with the Parade of Power then enjoy the Fast Crank Competitions, Slow Races, Chain in the box and more. 28 Annual Athens Wacky Quacky Ducky Derby - The Annual Wacky Quacky Ducky Derby with KALB will be held adjacent to Big Spring Memorial Park from 4:00PM-6:00PM. Your duck could be the $2,000 Grand Prize Winner! Specially-designed rubber racing ducks will be raced in heats (number dependent upon number of ducks adopted). The first few ducks in each heat (number dependent on prizes at race time) will move on to the Championship Race. Prizes will be awarded based on the order in which ducks move through the duck trap.

Online Adoptions will close at midnight on Friday. Buy your lucky duck or a whole Quack Pack at the Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful office in the old Gulf Station or online at KALBcares.org for your chances at prizes like Walt Disney World Tickets, cash and other great prizes.
