The museum plays host to various traveling exhibits which have included Comanche artists from the Southern Plains Indian Museum in Anadarko, Oklahoma and the "Native Words, Native Warriors" exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution's national Museum of the American Indian.

There are 13 Public Use Lakes on the Refuge which provide ample fishing opportunities for both bank and boat anglers. Largemouth bass, sunfish, crappie, and channel catfish are likely to be caught in Refuge lakes.
