The Belleville townsite was organized in September of 1869. It was called Belleville in honor of the wife of one of its citizens, Arabelle.

Today, Belleville, at the "Crossroads of America" on Hwys. 81 and 36, welcomes you to its down home lifestyle and at the same time hosting such nationally famous events as the National Midget Race Car races and the Mid-America Cruise-In at the Crossroads Car Show.
