Branched Oak Trails

Hikers, bicyclists and equestrians can have their choice of several trails around Branched Oak. On Liebers Point near Area #6, nature lovers can walk the half-mile long, foot traffic-only, Wildflower Nature Trail. Across the road from Area #4 is a longer, more rugged trail popular with both hikers and mountain bikers. A third trail runs all the way from Area #11 near the marina, across the dam and west along the lake's south side to a point near Area #2, before turning back to the east again. This trail is popular with hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and snowmobilers.

Attractions and Upcoming Events

Branched Oak Camping

Camping is permitted in nine public use areas around the lake. Facilities and opportunities range from modern to primitive. All campers must register, and overnight camping fees are charged in addition to the required Park Entry Permit. Self-registration stations are located in each campground.

Two designated swimming beaches and associated picnic areas are located in Area #6 on Liebers Point and Area #10 on the lake's north side. Both are open daily from 8 a.m. to 9:30

As the largest body of recreational water within 100 miles of Lincoln and Omaha, Branched Oak is popular with powerboaters and sailboaters, alike. Boat ramps are available in Areas #2, #4, #5, #8 and #11.
