22 - 23 Playdate - The Ceramics Center is now accepting submissions for Playdate, a juried show exploring the role of games, toys, and childhood memories as inspiration in the creative process. Artists working primarily in clay, glass, or a combination of both are invited to submit work. Submissions must have been completed in the last two years and reference or be inspired by toys, games, or childhood memories. Mixed media and all traditional or innovative clay and glass forming techniques are welcome, but artwork must be primarily clay and/or glass.

Car Show With A Cause organized by the Alex Prochaska Memorial Project is a car show aimed at raising funds to support Kirkwood students pursuing the trades. 7 All Things Scottish: CelticFest - Ushers Ferry will take on a Scottish flare as the Hawkeye Area Grand Gaelic Isles Society presents All Things Scottish: Celtic Fest from 11:00-6:00. The Village will be filled with vendors, entertainers, and of course great Scottish Food. At the HAGGIS Kitchen there will be Scottish favorites such as Bangers and Mash, Neeps, and of course Haggis!

The sound of bag pipes and drums will resonant through the Valley as some of the Midwest's best pipers and drummers will join together to provide exciting musical entertainment. Scottish songs and dance will also be part of the festivities.

The Grand Parade at 1:00 will highlight the various Clans that will be in attendance as well as the Bag Pipes and Drummers. Clan tents will be available to learn more about the Scottish Heritage.

Throughout the Village Square there will be vendors with bountiful merchandise from the British Isles. "The Perfect Blend" will once again bring delicious short bread to sample and purchase.

Next to the Village Church you'll want to pull up a square of grass and watch the always popular Highland Games for awhile. You'll be amazed at the strength and endurance of these marvelous athletes.

The Knobbly Knees contest and the final sing-along are always crowd favorites. The kids will enjoy the scavenger hunt that will give them the opportunity to talk to many of the participants...and of course to win the yummy bag of candy! The kids will also get to try their hand at the Kid-sized Highland Games!
