17IA0402004e004 - Clear Lake Color the Wind Kite Festival - Join us in Clear Lake for the Midwest's largest and most colorful winter kite festival, featuring huge inflatable kites of all kinds flown by serious kite-flyers from across the United States. Hot food is available on site. Expect to be dazzled by this event! The display of beautiful colors, the sheer size of some of the kites, and the incredible choreography of the musical numbers are really something to behold.

Visitors will flock to Clear Lake’s frozen oasis to see the most spectacular display of kite-flying around. The festival is a big hit for everyone! Young or old – seasoned kite flyer or newbie to the hobby. Third Saturday.

20 Earth Day Fest, 5K/10K, & Trash Bash - Annual race begins and ends at Clear Lake City Park near the bandshell. Both courses are out and back on paved city streets. All streets are open to vehicular traffic. Course marshals will control major intersections. Chip timing will be provided by JMS Racing.

In the interest of reducing waste, water will be provided only along the 10K route. Food and drink will be provided to all of the runners at the finish line.

And then get ready for some family fun and making a difference in Clear Lake. It’s easy for all ages to help with the Community Cleanup for part of the morning. And then enjoy the Fun Run, seeing wild critters close up, crafts, free food, family games and more. Free paper shredding and electronics recycling is available too. Other events are held throughout the community in conjunction with Clear Lake Earth Days and national Earth Day.

11 - 12 Clear Lake Walleye Classic - Hosted by the Clear Lake Fishing Club, this catch & release tournament involves teams competing for the largest amount of walleye by weight. A $2500 top prize with the next 25 places based on an 80% payback. Limited to the first 100 entries. Public weigh ins and award ceremony at City Park at 3pm both days. 7am start both days.

1 Take A Kid Fishing Tournament - Saturday Kids day tournament is Saturday from 10:00 to 1:00 at the Ventura Grade parking lot. We will have hot dogs, chips, and drinks. We will weigh fish and give out prizes to all that show up regardless if you caught a fish or not. Please come and share the fishing experience with your kids. Feel free to post photos of you and your kids fishing on Clear Lake Fishing Club's Facebook page. Our club looks forward to seeing the kids every year, so come fish, eat, and pick out prizes.

8 - 23 Municipal Band Concerts - The Clear Lake Municipal Band performs most weekends through mid-July. Concert times are 7pm Saturdays and 3pm Sundays, with a special July 4th concert at 8:30pm. Bring your lawn chair and relax in City Park as they strike up the band! The weekly concert program is printed in the Clear Lake Mirror Reporter.

27 Clear Lake Paddlefest - The best way to experience Clear Lake is from the lake. Grab your paddle and join the fun for our annual Paddlefest event! Explore the shores on your kayak, canoe, or SUP on either our 5 mile, 3 mile, or the fun 1 mile loop. Bring the kids to ride along as well! Check out our Course Map tab to see our routes. See our Schedule tab for our race day line up. Need to rent a kayak, canoe, or SUP? We will have some for rent, but there will be limited availability!

This is a FUN event! No pressure on what your time is. We are timing it for those who wish to make it competitive. Our goal is to promote an active lifestyle while enjoying our beautiful lake. This is a great opportunity for water sport enthusiasts to come together and have a good time! Afterwards, stay for awards and celebrate your finish with food, drinks, family, and friends!

2 - 3 Summer Dance Cruise/C.L.A.S.S. Car Show - The Clear Lake Auto Social Society's Annual Event kicks off Friday night with a Car Cruise around Clear Lake, with a concert to follow. On Saturday, the Car Show is held downtown around City Park. For details and registration visit the website.

4 Lions Hamburger & Sweet Corn Feed - The Clear Lake Evening Lions hold their annual dinner in Clear Lake City Park from 11am-2pm (or until sold out). Meal includes a hamburger, Iowa sweet corn, cookies, and a drink. A sweet corn eating contest is held in the afternoon. Tickets are available from any CL Evening Lion or at the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

28 Harvest Festival: Wine, Art and All That Jazz - This annual Event offers an opportunity to stroll down a vibrant Main Street while enjoying wine samplings, seminars and artist demonstrations, shopping, fall decor, a huge farmer's market, vendors, trolley rides, homemade salsa contest, grape stomp competition, pumpkin roll relay, waiter race, food, live jazz music and more! 29 Clear Lake Fall Walleye Classic - Fall Classic Tournament day rules.
Launch site is Lynn Lorenzen Park in Ventura IA.
1. 7:30 to 3:00 are tournament hours. May start earlier if all ready to go.
2. Single file take off in morning by numbers.
3. 2 lines max per angler.
4. Bring in 5 fish maximum. 14” min only 2 over 22”.
5. Leave your fish in livewell and pull up to the Lynn Lorenzen shelter house. Take your fish out there to weigh in. After weighing them you will release them in the lake.
6. A weigh master will not be there till at least 1:30 to weigh in early.
7. CLFC is taking entries the morning of the tournament. Please try to contact us if you plan on signing up the morning of.

29 - 1 Festival of Trees - Kick off the holiday season with the One Vision Festival of Trees! Over 100 trees and wreaths decorated by volunteers are for sale throughout the weekend. Opening Night November 30 includes appetizers and desserts. Saturday features Breakfast With Santa, children's craft activities, and Secret Shop. Sunday includes Cookie Walk. All proceeds support services for people with disabilities through One Vision. Also, come for the Lights On 5K run to light up the Festival on Thursday, November 29!
