Fort Ancient is a major North American archaeological site and National Landmark featuring two outstanding prehistoric Indian cultures. The Hopewell Indians built 3 1/2 miles of earthworks on a bluff overlooking the Little Miami River as a social and ceremonial center. The Fort Ancient Indians built an agricultural settlement below the bluff and inside the earthworks.
Newly renovated and expanded is the Museum at Fort Ancient featuring exhibits from Ohio’s earliest prehistoric times to modern Ohio American Indian heritage. A prehistoric American Indian garden can be found behind the museum. Also located at the site are spectacular scenic vistas, picnicking and hiking. This is located in Warren County.
