Garland, Texas

Garland is a suburban city 15 miles northeast of Dallas that grew from a farming community that was incorporated in 1891. Several industries were established during WW II, and the long-established Resistol Hat Factory provided head-wear for "J.R. Ewing." The Center for Performing Arts is home to the Garland Symphony, the Garland Civic Theater, and Garland summer musicals. Rebirth of the Plaza Theater, a state-of-the-art performing arts facility seats 338. Garland is home of Amberton University.

Firewheel at Garland provides 63 challenging holes in the largest municipal golf facility in Texas and the third largest in the nation, according to the National Golf Foundation.
