18 - 23 Annual Swedish Days - A Midsommar Festival - Swedish Days, known as the "Granddaddy" of Illinois Festivals, celebrates Geneva's Swedish heritage. The fest features a host of family-friendly activities: Carnival, Craft Show, Rosemaling (Scandinavian painting), the state's largest Music Competition, Kids' Day, a pet parade, top-notch musical entertainment, Green Geneva Eco-Fun Expo and a renowned Grand Parade. Plenty of food booths offer Swedish and American fare as well as treats for your sweet tooth. Don't forget to shop the sales at over 100 one-of-a-kind stores in Geneva's historic business district. Geneva's train station is located on S. Third Street just blocks from the festivities.

19 - 20 Geneva Arts Fair - The Geneva Arts Fair showcases over 155 fine artisans from around the country in a host of mediums. Victorian homes-turned-businesses in the downtown historic district serve as a picturesque backdrop for the fine arts show that was again voted "Best Craft or Art Show" in 2008 by West Suburban Living magazine. Admission is free and includes a children's art area with special activities. Geneva's train station is located on S. Third Street just blocks from the festivities.

6 - 8 Festival of the Vine - Savor the flavor of Geneva during Festival of the Vine, our autumn harvest celebration. Initially a celebration of anything grown on a vine, the festival now revolves around food and wine and entertainment. The event runs Friday through Sunday at Fourth and State streets. 29 - 30 Christmas Walk & House Tour - Geneva's annual Christmas Walk begins Christmas in Geneva with the arrival of Carolers, Santa Lucia and Santa Claus. The courthouse lawn becomes illuminated with lights and hope for the season. Among the twinkling lights and fresh greenery lined streets you will find downtown Geneva to be a holiday destination overflowing with comfort and charm.

Enjoy five lovely, exquisite Geneva homes decorated in holiday splendor by local decorators. These homes will open to visitors for self-guided tours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4. Tickets will be on sale mid-October.

Fabyan Dutch Windmill

The Fabyan Dutch Windmill was built by Louis Blackhaus, a German craftsman, between 1850-1860 on a site along York Road near Oak Brook.
