Joinerville, located on Texas 64, approximately six miles west of Henderson, is home to the East Texas Oil Field's Discovery Well, once the largest oil field in the world. Joinerville (previously known as Cyril) was named in honor of a wildcat driller C.M. "Dad" Joiner in 1931. In Pioneer Park, a monument and historical markers honor those oilfield "roughnecks."
