Kilgore, Texas

Kilgore is surrounded by the pine forests and clear blue skies of East Texas about 120 miles east of Dallas. In 1930, this quiet farming town was thrust into the world limelight by the discovery of a huge oil field; over 1,200 oil wells were once pumping within the city limits and some are still producing. More than 24 restored steel derricks are nostalgic reminders of early boom days, and are now decorated during Christmas.
