Lake Hiwassee Fishing

Lake Hiwassee is well known for its fishing for striped bass, bluegill, yellow perch and muskie. In fact, The National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame lists a record 54-pound striped bass caught in the lake. Nearby, the Hiwassee River offers a three-mile long stretch that is designated as a Trophy Trout Stream, plus it has Class I and Class II whitewater rafting. The Hanging Dog Recreation Area, located at Lake Hiwassee, provides picnic areas, hiking trails and a boat-launching ramp.
