31 Rollin' Round the River Ride - Magical History Tour along the Yadkin River on the NC Scenic By-way 268 West which is part of the federally-designated Overmountain Victory Natl. Historic Trail. 14 Annual Brushy Mountain Apple Festival - The Brushy Mountain Apple Festival is one of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast. The streets of downtown North Wilkesboro, NC are filled with over 425 arts and crafts, 100 food concessions, 4 different music stages consisting of Blue Grass, Country, Folk, Gospel, and Appalachian Heritage. Cloggers, folk dancers, rope skippers, and square dancers provide additional entertainment venues for festival goers. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Appalachian Heritage crafts are highlighted such as woodcarving, chair making, soap making, pottery throwing, and quilting. When walking through the streets of the festival observing and buying lots of the arts and crafts, Appalachian dulcimers can be heard while the smells of the variety of foods are enticing everyone's appetites.

Let us not forget the apples, apples, and apples. Local apple growers set up throughout the festival selling their apples, apple cider, and dried apples. After all, this festival also pays tribute to the fruit grown and harvested each fall by apple orchardists from Northwestern North Carolina.

APPLE JAM is a musical event held at the corner of 10th and Main in downtown North Wilkesboro, the Friday evening preceding the festival. The music starts at 6pm. Bring your lawn chair, relax, and enjoy the music.

24 - 28 Wilkes County Agricultural Fair - Special features include petting zoo, agricultural exhibits, plus music & entertainment on different nights. Fair sponsored annually by the North Wilkesboro Rotary Club, begins Tuesday and ends on Saturday.

4 - 12 Candle Light Ghost Tours - Candlelight Ghost Tours is located in Wilkesboro, North Carolina at the foot of the Blueridge Mountains. Folkore and ghost tales abound in this area, passed down from one generation to the next. Join us and walk amid the history of a proud mountian peoples as we regale you with stories of the past - well, maybe some folks aren't as "past" as we'd think. You might just hear the footsteps of the long dead Tom Dooley in the jail cell he once occupied or you might spy the earthbound spirit of the little girl killed by runaway horses. It's all here, just waiting for you.

2 Light Up Downtown - Annually, Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro kicks off the Holiday Season with the lighting ceremony soon after dusk. Main Street is filled with the Lights, Joys, Smells, and Sounds of Christmas. Santa can be found in the lobby of Wilkes Towers ready for photos with the little ones. Local community groups take part in in providing hay rides, live entertainment, food, crafts, kids activities and such. Annually Friday before Thanksgiving.
