| 3 - 5 | Annual Pecan Festival - Every June the people of Okmulgee get together to throw one "whale" of a party, the annual Okmulgee Pecan Festival, and they bake a pecan pie big enough to feed one!Named one of the two best festivals in the state, the Pecan Festival not only features a stupendously mind-boggling-sized pecan pie, but music, food, arts and crafts, and carnival rides as well. Okmulgee's pecan pie holds the Guiness Book of World Records title for the largest pecan pie ever baked - over 40 feet in diameter and weighing more than 35,000 pounds. In subsequent years, Okmulgee has also become a record winner for the world's largest pecan cookie, the world's largest pecan and ice cream party, and the world's largest pecan brownie. The Okmulgee Pecan Festival is held all around the beautiful downtown square, where the Creek Council House and Museum sits, center stage. Streets that are usually filled with parked cars are blocked off, so people can walk freely around the midway, the pie, the live stage acts, the food, and booth after booth of carefully crafted arts and gifted craftsmen are on display. There's something at the Pecan Festival for everyone, regardless of age. The adults love the music groups brought in to entertain on center stage. The adults also enjoy the tents full of high quality arts and crafts. The kids love the turtle races, petting zoo, beauty contest and a lip sync contest. 11:00am-11:00pm.
