Old City Well

category : Landmarks
Old City Well Westmoreland's Historic Hand Dug Well was constructed in 1914, as 40 men labored through the winter without the benefit of modern machinery, using only picks and shovels. The old City water well is reported to be the second largest hand dug well in the world and is a continuing project of the Rock Creek Valley Historical Society. A shelter house that includes picnic tables and grills is located just west of the Well on Highway 99.
