18 - 30 Honoring Female Veterans from Jefferson County, KS - The Jefferson County Historical Society at Old Jefferson Town in Oskaloosa is having a display to recognize female veterans from Jefferson County. All female veterans, regardless of what branch of service will be recognized. We also want to recognize those that --have lived or moved to --Jefferson County and has served our country. Also to be recognized will be woman that had roles to support the war efforts. The display is planned to run from Memorial Weekend until July 4th weekend. If you have anyone or know of anyone who would like to participate with pictures, artifacts, or other memorabilia, please contact me. Pictures can be scanned and returned. Other items will be tagged so they can be returned to the owner. If anyone would like to display anything but wants to only do it for one weekend that is acceptable also. We are also interested in artifacts of the roles women held to support the war efforts. The display will start Memorial Weekend through July 4th weekend on Saturday's 1:00p.m. to 5:00pm and Sundays 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

20 - 22 Oskaloosa Old Settler's Festival - The Oskaloosa Old Settler's Festival is a three-day event including live performances by popular bands, and many local musical groups. There will also be a Young Settlers parade, carnival, pork burger tent, a dunk tank, hay throwing contest, and beer and wine garden.

21 - 22KS0303003e013 - Oskaloosa Haying with Horses - The Jefferson County Historical Society will host an event to display the process of how hay was farmed by our forefathers. The prairie hay field South of Old Jefferson Town will be cut on Friday afternoon and raked on Saturday with draft horses. Projected times for the event will be 11:00 a.m.to 3:00p.m. (please understand the time will be depending on dampness in air, ground, etc) This will be a wonderful opportunity to see this process in action.
