The Phoenix Zoo The Phoenix Zoo is the nation's largest privately owned, non-profit zoological parks, standing on 125 acres in Phoenix's Papago Park. The Zoo is home to approximately 1,400 animals including 200 species of endangered or threatened birds, mammals and reptiles from around the world. Each lives along one of four distinct trails: Tropics, Africa, Arizona and Discovery (formerly the Children's Trail).

New habitats include The Forest of UCO, home to the endangered spectacled bears; Harmony Farm, a hands-on area of the discovery of life on a working Farm; and Desert Lives, an award winning exhibit space and home to the native Arizona bighorn sheep and flagship Arabian oryx. In 2003, the Zoo opened interactive primate and wallaby walk-through exhibits.

In addition to the animal exhibits, the Phoenix Zoo offers an exciting array of unique special events, educational programs and outdoor recreational activities for people of all ages.
