28 - 29 General Pleasonton Days - Held annually on the first weekend in October, General Pleasonton Days celebrates the rich Civil War history of the City of Pleasanton and commemorates General Alfred Pleasonton the Union General in command at the Battle of Mine Creek and our communities namesake.

Linn County's biggest parade, kids games, giant inflatables, adult games, Cookee's Drive-In Car Show and more await you in Pleasanton Kansas. Voted Linn County's favorite community event 2 years in a row!!

28General Pleasonton Days Car Show - Cookees Drive-In is hosting again this year, the General Pleasonton Days Car Show. We will have plenty of prizes to give away, free dash plaques to the first 50 entrants, and trophies! We will have trophies in the following categories: Top 20, Furthest Distance, Youth, Rat Rod, and Best of Show in each of the car/truck/bike groups. Signup sheet can be downloaded from the website.

13 - 14 KS0610018e002 - PleasantonMine Creek Battle Anniversary - Two days of special activities are planned to commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Mine Creek, which was fought October 25, 1864. Full-scale reenactments will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

One of the largest Cavalry engagements of the entire Civil War, and the only one fought on Kansas soil, the Battle of Mine Creek occurred when 2,500 Union horsemen defeated 6,500 Confederate soldiers, killing or capturing over 1,000 of them. Mine Creek was the last important Civil War battle in the West, and served to represent the impending doom of the Confederacy.

Camps will open at 8 a.m. each day with the battle being reenacted at 1 p.m. on Mine Creek, about one mile east of the battlefield. Signs south of Pleasanton, Kan., on U.S. 69 will mark the way. Contact the historic site for details.
