Salina, Kansas

Salina, Kansas

If urban center is a reflection of its region, then Saline County owes much to its cities. The communities of Brookville, Glendale, and Bavaria boast of unique qualities which enhance the Crossroads Region. Each shares a symbiotic relationship with the larger population center of Salina, a relationship which provides rewarding contacts, contracts, and entertainment.

Follow the ribbon of Crawford Street, in Salina, to the west. Cross over the double lanes of I-35, and you will find the wandering curves of Highway 140. The scenic road leads through the bottomland fields of the Saline River Valley, following the old railroad tracks along the flatlands.

Just before you get to the hills, you will enter the town of Brookville, home of one of the most famous eateries in Kansas. Brookville is more than just the Brookville Hotel, though. The town prides itself on its old-time country atmosphere.

Why do people live in and love the small towns of Saline County? Part of it has to do with the quality of life. Janet Carswell, a long-time promoter of Ellsworth, puts it like this: "The quality of life cannot be matched. Where else can you live in a small, friendly place where everyone knows their neighbors and still have everything you need within a half an hour drive?"

So take time to explore the communities of Saline County. Visit their attractions, shop at their stores, chat with their citizens. See for yourself what makes these communities of Saline County unique and special places to live.
