Seneca Caverns - Registered Natural Landmark

category : Other Attractions
"The Caviest Cave in the U.S.A." is one of the most unique underground natural wonders in Ohio and the U. S. Discovered in 1872 and opened to the public for tours by the Bell family in 1933, Seneca Caverns was officially designated as a Registered Natural Landmark in 1997.

The one hour guided tour includes walking and climbing natural stone steps and pathways to a depth of 110 feet where the visitor can view crystal clear Ole Mist'ry River. Along the way the visitor will also see fossils, historic inscriptions and soda straw stalactite formations. A light jacket is recommended as the cavern's temperature is a constant refreshing 54 degrees F. Since considerable walking and numerous steps are involved, some elderly people and those with medical problems may find the tour too strenuous. Comfortable walking shoes are suggested.

Seneca Caverns is located four miles south of Bellevue between State Routes 18 and 269. Follow the directional signs to one of the most exciting natural adventures you'll ever encounter! See our website or call for directions.
