Sierra Blanca, Texas

Sierra Blanca, named for Sierra Blanca Mountain (6,950 ft.), is the seat of Hudspeth County on modern I-10 in far West Texas. The town owes its existence to the competition that surrounded the construction of the nation's second transcontinental rail link in 1881 of the Southern Pacific and Texas & Pacific. An historical marker commemorates the event located downtown at corner of Sierra Blanca Ave. and U.S. 80. railroads.
