Smithville, Texas

Established about 1827 in a rich farming area, Smithville is still devoted to agriculture. The city lies on the eastern edge of the "Lost Pines of Texas." Its historic downtown is home to antique shops, specialty boutiques, and restaurants.

The Lower Colorado River Authority's Richards Riverbend Park on the Colorado River has camping facilities, a fishing pier, picnic tables, playground, and rest rooms. The park entrance is off U.S. 71.
