The South Carolina Jazz Festival opens its inaugural year October 20 in Dizzy Gillespie?s hometown of Cheraw with a weekend celebrating Jazz and Gillespie?s 89th birthday. Over 30 Jazz performances are scheduled with the Mike Longo Trio headlining the two-day event.
Activities will include evening restaurant crawls, street musicians, a jazz breakfast, gospel concerts, a BBQ & Jazz lunch, an educational clinic, and a self-guided walking tour featuring Dizzy Gillespie related sites.
