Strip Pits Boating The size and width of the Strip Pits make the use of larger boats virtually non-existent. Small boats, tubes and canoes work well. There are over 200 small lakes ranging from one quarter of an acre to 50 acres that are managed for fishing with the larger lakes having boat access. Since they are strip pits they typically have higher sides and vegetation along their shores which helps to protect them from the wind making them great places for small boats, tubes and canoeing.
