Carrollton

Settlers from Carrollton, Illinois, and at least one from Carrollton, Maryland, built a camp in 1844 near the present site of today’s Farmers Branch Elementary School, but hostilities forced a move north to the present site; established 1872 as a stop on the MK&T Railroad. Today, Carrollton is a vibrant corporate and residential community. City was recently named a national “Kid-Friendly City,” “Tree City USA” and Texas’ safest city.
