Shiner, Texas

Shiner was founded in 1887 when the San Antonio and Arkansas Pass Railroad was built, and it was named for the town site donor, H.B. Shiner. The town grew as a trade center for Czech and German farmers. Agriculture is still important today with cattle and poultry. Tours of the long-time wire works company making made-to-order wire products since 1898 are available with advance notice. The Gaslight Dinner Theatre located in the historic opera building usually offers three performances during the year.
