11 - 28AZ0411025e124 - Tucson AET Presents, Always…Patsy Cline, The Musical - The soaring, heartfelt melodies and toe-tapping honky-tonk classics of Patsy Cline are brought to life onstage with Always…Patsy Cline at Arts Express Theatre inside Park Place, running two weekends January 12-29, 2023.

Not merely a tribute to the beloved country music icon Patsy Cline and her music, the show is based on the true story of the friendship that developed between Patsy (Tiff Jensen) and Louise Seger (Diane Bertrand-Goldsmith), her most devoted fan. Louise narrates the story of the day in 1961 when she met Patsy at Houston's Esquire Ballroom. Afterward, Patsy kept in touch by writing her long hand-written letters, full of heartbreak and laughter, until the day she died tragically in a plane crash. She signed the letters (Love) Always, Patsy Cline.

With a book by Ted Swindley, Always…Patsy Cline is one of the most produced musicals in America, according to "American Theatre Magazine," and has enjoyed successful runs off-Broadway, as well as in the UK, Australia, and Canada.

Boasting nearly 30 of Patsy Clines' most cherished hits, such as "Crazy," "Walkin' After Midnight," "Sweet Dreams," "I Fall to Pieces," and "She’s Got You," fans are sure to fall in love with this fun loving, crowd-pleasing musical full of down-home country humor and a big heart.

Making his Tucson Directorial debut is Brian Doig, with music direction by Anne Grimes. Shows run January 12-29, 2023, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., with matinees Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.

26 Arizona Gives Day - Arizona Gives Day is a statewide, grassroots day of giving that will take place on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Join thousands of other Arizonans and “invest in Arizona” by donating to your favorite charities.

Go to azgives.org to donate. Search by specific locations or categories, such as “arts”, “animals” or “environment” to find your cause.

Vision
Arizona Gives Day connects causes and supporters in order to enrich and empower Arizona as a whole. The day also helps raise awareness about Arizona nonprofits and the important work they do in our community.

Goals
This year we plan to reach a greater number of individual donors, and hope to raise more than $3 million for nonprofits across our state. On April 5, we are asking Arizonans to donate to their favorite local cause. If each Arizonan gave just $1 we’d double our goal and raise over $6 million.

All donations made through the Arizona Gives Day website (azgives.org) are tax-deductible, may be matched, and are deposited directly into the bank accounts of the chosen nonprofits.

How to Support
In addition to online donations, Arizona Gives Day supporters can share information about the day and participating nonprofits via social media to help generate awareness and participation.

Use the #AZGivesDay hashtag and share content from our Twitter profile (twitter.com/azgives) and Facebook page (facebook.com/ArizonaGivesDay) to help spread the word.

Money Raised in Previous Arizona Gives Days
Since 2013, Arizona Gives Day has raised $4.5 million for nonprofits statewide. Last year, 573 Arizona nonprofits raised $2,054,417 through the generosity of 17,260 donors with many donors giving to multiple organizations. The average donation was $86.

Bonus Opportunities
Prize money is available for participating nonprofit organizations that raise the most money. Categories will be based on annual revenue size or whether an organization is an Alliance member. Six “Power Hours” will also be available during which winners will be determined by the number of $100+,
$50+ or $25+ donations received in a designated hour of the day.

Further Inquiry
Arizona Gives Day is organized by the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and Arizona Grantmakers Forum. FirstBank is the presenting sponsor of Arizona Gives Day.

29 - 13AZ0411025e153 - Tucson YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN: The Musical Electrifies the Stage at Arts Express Theatre Sept. 29 - Oct. 15 - We're "Puttin' on the Ritz" Transylvania style here at Arts Express Theatre with Young Frankenstein: The Musical, the multi-Tony Award nominated new musical that's bound to leave you in stitches. Based on the beloved Mel Brooks' comedy film of the same name, shows run September 29 – October 15 with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., and matinees Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.

When brilliant brain surgeon Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (Daniel Gilmore) learns he has just inherited the property of his infamous grandfather in Transylvania, Frederick is reluctant to have anything to do with that "crazy" side of the family. Still, he says a loving farewell to his fiance, Elizabeth (Gabriella Carillo) and heads off to settle the family estate.

Greeted at the train station by the unusual lab assistant, Igor (Nathan Taylor) and lively Inga (Rachael Fornof), Frederick is soon swept up with the mystique and mystery of the strange old castle, eager to find his grandfather's secret laboratory. With help from the enigmatic Frau Blucher (Tiff Jensen), Frederick locates his grandfather’s secret journal and becomes obsessed with fulfilling his legacy - to successfully reanimate a human corpse.

Through the ineffective antics of well-intentioned Igor, the corpse ends up with an "Abby-Normal" brain, and when Frederick triumphantly brings it to life, he discovers he's created a Monster (Braden Cooley). With fears of the townspeople looming, Frederick is determined to tame the Monster, and how better to prove it than teach him to sing and dance?

With all the hilarity and hijinks we've come to expect from Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony (EGOT) Award-Winner Mel Brooks, Young Frankenstein: The Musical is filled with familiar hits like "Puttin' on the Ritz," "Transylvania Mania," and "He Vas My Boyfriend." Don't miss this electrifying new musical, guaranteed to be monstrously good entertainment.

Young Frankenstein is directed by Chris Will, with music direction by Jenny Campman and choreography by Simone Jolivet-Manuel.
