Zavalla, Texas

The community of Zavalla was established in 1900 when the Texas and New Orleans railroad arrived. It became a rail shipping point for wood products. Farming and livestock raising also contributed to the early economy in Zavalla. In the Angelina National Forest, the town is a gateway to beautiful recreation areas on Lake Sam Rayburn.
