Wheat, soybeans, and sorghum are the prominent grain crops, giving area farmers a diversity uncommon in many areas. Long a leading oil producing county in southeast Kansas, an active and progressive oil industry continues in the county.

With two state managed lakes and wildlife areas, and two Yates Center city reservoirs, Woodson County offers many outdoor recreational opportunities for everyone!
