Welcome to the San Juan National Forest, a region of forested mountains, 14,000-foot peaks, scenic roads, geological wonders, historic and prehistoric communities, and a narrow-gauge railroad.
Within the Pagosa District are many trails that lead into areas of undisturbed wild and natural beauty, in varied terrain. Some lead into areas that are Congressionally designated components of the National Wilderness Preservation System¿the Weminuche and South San Juan Wildernesses.
