New Jersey

New Jersey is often underestimated, but it holds together well as a state of connected zones. The coastline, interior forests, and more developed areas each create different kinds of trips.

The coast defines much of the travel rhythm, with towns, beaches, and shorter movements between stops. Inland, the pace changes slightly, with more space and less density, allowing for quieter routes.

Because distances are short, New Jersey works best when you build days around clusters of places rather than trying to move across the entire state.

Spring and fall are the most balanced seasons for exploring. Summer focuses heavily on the coast, where the state’s travel patterns become more concentrated.
