Parkers Ferry And Pon Pon Chapel

John Wesley once preached at Pon Pon Chapel, a pre-Revolutionary church near Jacksonboro, off SC 64, near the tomb of Isaac Hayne. There are only ruins left now.

A historic marker for Parker’s Ferry marks the place of some impressive earthworks probably dating from the Revolution. In 1782 the Patriots had an important supply depot at Parker’s Ferry. A battle took place on the causeway leading to the ferry on August 30, 1781 when Gen. Francis Marion lay in ambush for a detachment of Royal calvary.
