Fairbury City Museum

This museum has been located for many years on the west side of the downtown square in Fairbury. It is now in a larger building that allows the display of items in a much more pleasant atmosphere and has more space for new items. The museum's mission is to preserve, display and promote Fairbury as well as Jefferson County's history. Rotating exhibits are planned as well as stationary exhibits such as Fairbury businesses frozen in time.



  • Upon entering the museum the first room displays apparel from various periods of time

  • Campbell Brother's circus memorabilia

  • Dolls, musical instruments and a general store

  • Medical, dental, eye doctor and barber shop areas

  • Service memorabilia

  • Pictures, postcards and yearbooks

  • Household items, furniture, toys and a kitchen area

  • A new building resembling a barn for displaying farm items and an antique fire engine



Hours: Hours: 1:00-4:00 p.m. Thursday and Sunday, Saturday 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00-4:00 p.m.
School and Group tours are welcome anytime.
