Jackson Lake State Park

category : State Parks
Jackson Lake State Park is located in Jackson County, 10 miles south of Jackson, about 25 miles northeast of Portsmouth. This scenic park provides the backdrop for the moss-covered remnants of the Jefferson Iron Furnace, which belched fire and smoke during the mid-1800s when the area was an important iron manufacturing center. Picnic areas offering reservable shelters with electric outlets are perfect for a family outing or outdoor group function.

Pick 1 of 34 campsites with electric hookups. Pets are allowed on designated sites. Campground facilities are basic, including a picnic table and fire ring at each site and latrines and water available in the campground.

242-acre Jackson Lake offers swimming and sunbathing on a sand beach. Enjoy laid-back boating, from sailing and canoeing to motor boats with a 10-horsepower limit.

Anglers can look forward to good catches of bass, crappie, muskie, bluegill and catfish. Fishing can be enjoyed from the shoreline or on the lake. Hunting is permitted in season on the wildlife area near the park. A valid Ohio fishing and/or hunting license is required.

2006 Camping Fees are $19/night. Call 1-866-OHIO-PARKS for reservations.
