A Dothan man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he tried to run over a Dothan police officer with his car, forcing the officer to fire at the suspect, hitting him twice. Abralem Howard, 32, of Constitution Drive in Dothan, was released from a Dothan hospital Monday afternoon after being treated for injuries he suffered after the officer shot him in the right arm and right leg with his police-issued weapon. He was set to be transferred to the Houston County Jail Monday evening and is being held on a $250000 bond. Police say the incident began as a routine traffic stop in the 3000 block of Dawson Street at 1:45 am Monday. Howard, who was driving a black Chevrolet sedan, pulled over in the driveway of a residence, got out of the vehicle and became disorderly. He then ran from the scene and was pursued on foot by the officer. Police say Howard eluded the officer and was able to return to his vehicle. He then attempted to leave the area by driving through the front yard of the residence as the officer caught up with him.
