Located on the waterfront in Morro Bay, CA, the Harbor Hut restaurant is world renowned for its views of the harbor and Morro Rock. Both a local hotspot as well as a favorite among visitors, the Harbor Hut is one of the oldest restaurants in Morro Bay; it has been operated and owned by the Leage Family since 1951. Established as a quaint little spot dedicated to cooking up the freshest seafood possible, the Harbor Hut quickly became well known as one of the best restaurants on the Central Coast for their mesquite broiling and their voracious pursuit of the finest ingredients.
Founded by Ralph “Tiger” Ruse the Harbor Hut was created in order to cater to the increasing number of travelers coming from the Central Valley, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and from around the globe who seeked adventure along the spectacular coastline from Big Sur to Pismo Beach.
Around 1964 Tiger’s son-in-law George Leage began working at the Harbor Hut and ultimately took over the daily operations and started managing the restaurant. In 1978 he bought the restaurant from his wife’s father keeping the establishment in the family. Subsequently, George’s son Troy began working at the Harbor Hut in 1980. Years later, Troy began managing the Harbor Hut just as his father had. In 2009 Troy and his wife purchased the restaurant from his father George completing the third generation of ownership of this iconic Morro Bay restaurant.
Today the Harbor Hut continues to offer world class dinning in a casual, family friendly setting adjacent to spectacular views of the bay and Morro Rock. With a fantastic array of local as well as freshly sourced seafood, steaks, and other ingredients, the Harbor Hut is sure to satisfy everyone in your family. Sunsets as seen from the dining area are impressive and seals, otters and sea birds can be seen from the restaurant on a daily basis. Come on down to the Harbor Hut and discover why this waterfront restaurant has been a Central Coast favorite for over 60 years!
