Overbrook 4thof July events:

— Grace Community Church annual Community Picnic & Fireworks

10am —Kid's Bike Parade through downtown, Hot Dog feed and Horse-n-Wagon
rides and a Free Swim at the Pool from 1-5pm

6pm — Food, Fun, and Fireworks at City Park!

There'll be Kettle Corn, Snow Cones and Pulled Pork BBQ sandwiches with sides & drink by Santa Fe Trail Meats:

DJ (Darin Jones) with music and entertainment including Karaoke!

Overbrook PRIDE, Inc. will hold drawings before the Fireworks to give away a BBQ Grill and a Kid's Bicycle. Tickets are $1, available there!

1896 School House

The Rural Dale School which was located east of LeRoy, Kansas in Coffey County, was recently donated to the Coffey County Museum by Irene Woods. The 1896 school house has been moved next to the Museum and is currently undergoing restoration. Restoration should be completed early in 1997.

In early Coffey County history, farmers brought their wheat to this well-known Burlington landmark situated at the east end of Kennebec Street. The elevator building is all that remains of the Excelsior Water Mills, built in 1869
