Each year the National Pony Express Association has made the run between St. Joseph, MO and California. It is a thrilling sight to see the riders on horseback as they ride through town.

The National Pony Express Association will celebrate the 157th Anniversary Year of the founding of the Pony Express by conducting a re-run of the famed mail service, June 5-15, 2017.

Commemorative letters and personal mail will be carried by horse and rider relays 1966 miles from the Missouri River to the Sacramento River. The first Rider departs the Patee House in St. Joseph, Mo., at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 5 and the last rider arrives in Pony Express Plaza in Old Sacramento, Calif. at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15.
