Event Details

The Chisholm Trail Book Festival is certainly one of the largest book signings in the state of Oklahoma. 84 authors from Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, California, Massachusetts and many towns in Oklahoma will be at the Simmons Center in Duncan, OK. The Chisholm Trail Book Festival is a family event one can spend all day enjoying and have a noon meal provided by a community fundraising entity. It begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

Topping the day off three 8th graders will receive their cash award at 4 p.m. for their essay. An all county essay contest will be open to all 8th graders in Stephens County to participate whether they are schooled in public schools or at home. The neat thing of it is if enough essays come in, all those contributing will be published in a legitimate book that can be purchased on Amazon and thus they become "published authors" themselves!

This wonderful event, held in doors, will be a memory making experience with many published authors glad to visit with you and autograph a book for you. It is the time to consider that Christmas gift for those you love as all genre of books will be present, adult's as well as children's books.

Our event would make a great bus tour to put on your calendar.

On The Chisholm Trail Statue

Oklahoma's largest bronze sculpture (16' high and 35" long) stands in Duncan, adjacent to the museum. The sculpture shows a chuch wagon followed by longhorn cattle on the move northward. Cowboys are intent on the herd. Of interest to young observers is the trail dog trotting alongside.
